HHH Season 3 Winter Special
Not only did I help film the winter special for season 3, but I was asked to create the end credits for the episode. This is great becauase I love to do credit sequences. I use any excuse to fire up After Effects and do motion graphics that I possibly can. Since this episode included a really fun claymation skit created by Hobo Films, I was sent some background plates to use. The whole claymation skit really tugged at the feels. I watch the old Rankin/Bass Christmas films every year. I actually just watched Frosty the Snowman last night.

I got pretty into it, and I redesigned the HallowIan Horror Hour Horror Heads logo for the holiday by making the font look icy and giving the characters hats. The creative director loved my remix of the logo that it is now a shirt available to purchase (and I bought as a Christmas present for my wife). The shirt is fun, and I was further inspired to go above and beyond with the end credits. Since I was asked to make snowballs hit the screen as the credits rolled, I had to figure out how to do that in an interesting way. I feel I pulled it off with some stock footage that I modified with track mattes and a few other tricks, but the project ended up being pretty large. The major problem ended up being with how many layers I had to create to have snowballs being thrown at the screen for the majority of the 90 seconds of credits. Yeah, yeah, pre-compose, I know, but I simply couldn’t do that because I had to move the snowball assets too much and digging around in pre-comps would have been incredibly annoying. Besides, all the snowball tracks were pre-comps already.
With all the investment in this project I had, I decided to go the extra step do the score also. There wasn’t already anything in place for audio assets on the end credits, so I composed a song which I titled, A Very Hallow Holiday Song. I’ve been doing a bunch of composing and scoring lately, and this particular song was a ton of fun to do. Hopefully I will be able to publish it soon.
Anyway, watch the end credits and enjoy what I created. I certainly did. Then go watch the entire episode on the HHH YouTube channel.
